Adjustable steering columns are more than just a safety upgrade. They’re designed to improve driving precision by eliminating flex and binds in the steering shaft. At Sweet Manufacturing, we offer two primary varieties of steering columns- standard and lightweight. These columns are welded and assembled in Kalamazoo, Michigan using the finest materials available. All of our lightweight steering columns come complete with our aluminum quick release hub.

Standard & Lightweight Adjustable Steering Column Options

We offer steering columns in standard and lightweight options to fit the needs of many different  racing vehicles. All columns provide 8” of adjustability, and length is measured from the end of the housing to the beginning of the adjustable shaft.

Standard Steering Columns

Each column offers an 8-inch adjustability range, and they are labeled with the length measured from the end of the housing to the start of the adjustable shaft, ensuring a custom fit with the desired length for your setup. Actual compressed and extended lengths are provided in our steering column guide.

Lightweight Steering Columns

Our lightweight adjustable steering columns are a simplified version of our standard column, and they deliver the same adjustability in a weight-saving design. Using a 1 1/8” rod end-style support hanger for pairing with a steering column bracket, they can also utilize a mono-ball style hanger for compatibility with our dash bar brackets. Every lightweight column comes complete with an aluminum quick release hub.

Quick Release Hubs Included with All Lightweight Columns 

All lightweight columns include a smooth quick release hub, allowing drivers to remove or attach their steering wheel in seconds for faster entry, exit, and maintenance. These hubs are available in steel for NASCAR competitors as well as aluminum and lightweight designs for weight-conscious short track racers.

What’s the difference between standard and lightweight adjustable steering columns?

Both offer 8” of adjustability and are built for precision steering, but lightweight columns feature a simplified, weight-saving design. Sweet Manufacturing’s lightweight columns also come with a quick release bug.

What dash bar hanger sizes are offered?

The dash bar hangers required for standard column clamp or lightweight 1 ⅛ mono-ball hangers are available in 4 ⅜”, 6 ⅜”, 9 ⅜”, and a 1 ½” reducer.

Do you offer replacement parts for columns instead of full replacements?

Yes. We carry replacement quick release hubs, clamps, bearings, and hangers so you can maintain or repair your current setup without replacing the entire column.
