Sweet Manufacturing offers sprint car steering gears that lead the industry in quality, dependability, and performance. Using advanced valving technology that is years ahead of the competition, these gears are the lightest available for power steering. High quality is assured through extensive testing on our own in-house steering box dyno. All boxes are centered and stamped with the exact degree of the pitman shaft, which allows the steering box to run on the center tooth and avoid tight spots during travel.

700 Series Sportsman vs 600 Series Steering Boxes

700 Series Sportsman

Modeled after the trusted  Delphi / Saginaw box design, these boxes are available in both standard and lightweight options built for budget-minded racers. The 700 Series boxes are available in 3-bolt housing and every combination of ratio and valve size, from 6:1 to 16:1. The Sportsman steering boxes are guaranteed to be the most durable power steering box available anywhere. 

600 Series

Engineered to meet and exceed the expectations of top NASCAR cup teams, these boxes are thoroughly dyno-tested for performance, quality assurance, and reliability. Each 600 Series Sweet Manufacturing NASCAR unit is run on our centering machine to accurately locate the center tooth and eliminate possible tights spots throughout the range of motion. These steering boxes are offered in:

  • Six ratios, from 6:1 (fast) to 16:1 (slow)
  • Eight different valves, from .185 (extra light) to .275 (heavy). 

600 Series boxes are 6 pounds lighter than a standard Sportsman box.
